Henry Art Gala 2026: Colorful People

Through a series of conversations, two Seattle Artists, Joseph Gray and Kenzan Tsutakawa-Chinn, have designed a light art activation specifically for the 2026 Henry UN/GALA. The piece, Colorful People, is designed to engage people’s sense of joy and wonder around color. The installation creates a unique space at the gala that entices people to take photos and selfies encouraging social media posts.

The concept for Colorful People is based on a line of thinking Kenzan first conceived and developed in 2017. First installed for the Portland Winter Light Festival, then formalized in a gallery show in Brooklyn, and later a permanent installation back again in Portland. Joseph’s talent as a creative technologist/artist is a welcome addition to bring an even higher level of color and control to the piece.
